The members of the Bobcaygeon Horticultural Society are have invited John Shaw-Rimmington to give a presentation on Thursday, Oct. 18th. They meet at Knox Street Presbyterian Church, 6 Joseph Street, Bobcaygeon. The doors open at 6:00 pm , refreshments are served at 6:30 and the meeting begins at 7:00.

John Shaw-Rimmington designed this low segmented arch footbridge to be built over a small creek in Haliburton Forest, and headed up a small crew of wallers to complete the dry stone structure early this August.


Friday at 3pm, John Shaw-Rimmington gave a lively presentation on dry stone walling in Ontario on this year's OHA convention theme -'Shore to Shield'
This five day Dry Stone Walling Across Canada course was offered to students to construct an unusual design dry stone bridge in a beautiful garden setting on private property over a narrow pond in Pontypool Ontario

Twelve entusiastic students took part in our DSWAC workshop at HSAD in Haliburton. The task was to design and build a dry stone bench for Sir Sam Slick Park. The bench/boat idea evolved as we had the students experiment building with miniture stone pebble models in class, then survey the material that we had on site , and then consider the appropriate location for the boat and finally visit the quarry as part of a fieldtrip to undertand what extra special (random) shaped stones the project would require.
