The June 14-15 the DSWAC two-day dry-laid walling workshop, to teach people the basics of using inexpensive random fieldstone to create a section of traditional free-standing garden was a great success.
It was held ten minutes north of the 401 near Port Hope, an hour's drive east of Toronto, Ontario.
Students learnt how to use many tons of round granite rocks found on or near the property to create an elegant 4 foot high corner wall section of a future walled flower/vegetable garden.
No tools were required, just enthusiasm for working with stone and a simple desire to learn how to build with a natural material that doesn't rot , need painting or fall down after a few years.
