Students rest at the end of two days of intensive dry stone building in the hot sun.

The second phase of the Holsteing 'blackhouse' event was very successful.

On the grass in front of the newly constructed Canadian version of a Scottish Blackhouse are Alan, Gerrat, Tom, Anthony, John, Wendy and Duane with Dean, Reid and, Evan on the top.

Dean McLellan reviews some of the basics of dry stone construction with the students and does a 'walk-around' discussing the results a morning of enthusiastic  walling.

Students from across Canada and senior members of the DSWAC nearly completed this unique structure based on the dry stone 'blackhouses' you find in Scotland. Here is how it looked at the end of the second day of the workshop.
