Norman and Farley

Norman Haddow and Farley Mowat finally get to meet one another .

The book The Farfarers written by the renowned Canadian author, Farley Mowat was the inspiration for a dry stone structure built in 2006 during the Dry Stone Wall Festival in Port Hope by a team of wallers, headed up by master craftsman and international dry stone waller, Norman Haddow, from Scotland.

and Norman was not able to be there for the dedication of the structure later that month.

After a very successful 2008 festival in Cobourg, during which Norman attended as guest workshop instructor from Scotland, he and Farley were able to get  together for the first time and exchange greetings as well as discuss various topics including Brochs, Scottish government leaders and the future of dry stone walling in Canada.
