The DSWAC two day workshop in "The County" . Twelve or so participants gathered near Wellington in beautiful P.E. County Ontario to learn to build a dry stone wall, and just enjoy being out in the country for a lovely late September weekend. We built over 90 feet of lovely dry stone wall, in less than two days , complete with a 12 foot entranceway up to the barn of future Karlos Vineyard . The first day involved moving big hunks of local limestone and beginning the process of turning the piles of random shaped stone into two straight sections of three-and-a-half foot wall. The day's events included an instructive beginner's seminar, an all day hands-on workshop, two great meals with flowing glasses of wine, followed by a dry stone wall slide presentation. After a night of camping over, or heading off to B and Bs, about a third of the crew showed up the next day to get some more hands on experience , completing the DSWAC project by lunchtime. We then sat back and feasted on fresh corn on the cob, BBQ steak and more glasses of fine Karlos wine. All the fabulous cooking was kindly provided by Richard and Sherry and her mother . Our new wall hopefully complements the several magnificent older dry stone walls that can be found in the area.
