The Balsam Lake dry stone wall seminar this May was another big success. John Shaw-Rimmington facilitated the rebuilding of another section of these historic 120 year old dry stone walls, built originally by Scottish masons brought over by the Laidlaws and the Mackenzies for the beautifying of their lake shore estates.

Here is the section of dry stone wall before any work was done. Most of the damage was probably caused by excessive snow plow activity or a carelessly driven vehicle.

Here is the completed dry stone wall with a few of the people who took the seminar and helped restore it. Notice the good job they did joining up the new section to the older part.
